HOW TO BUILD YOUR FIRST VALHEIM BASE

To put things clear, Base building won’t be an easy process. It will not be a simple setup like the previous guide. You can make a simple shack, small and long lasting! Of course, you have multiple options, but your first attempt needs to be something rather elementary and manageable. You also have the choice to disassemble your construction and restart again.
Craft a Hoe:
The first thing you should begin crafting at this level is a hoe; and no not the kind of hoe you’re thinking of. It is a farmer’s tool to elevate the ground or apply the Pathen and Paved Road ground decorations to an area; it creates a path for the player to walk on.

Clear An Area for Your House and Walls:

A well-established house contains 3 major parts: four walls, a door, and a roof. Don’t forget to construct a basic wall around your residence; you will need some additional space for that.
opt for meadow when choosing land to build your home; this will save you time and effort since you won’t need to chop off a lot of trees. Mind you, you either way have to collect a lot of wood from trees if you want a wide sweeping large house.
You need to be wary however, as falling trees will usually harm you, heck even kills you! They also can destroy your buildings, for that reason you have to dispose of everything surrounding that region. Surely you don’t want the trees to knock down hours’ worth of building. Use your hammer to dig wood piles and save the rest for later usage because you will need it.

Level Out The Land With A Hoe:

Now that you have cleared as much space for your mansion, it is time to elevate the ground using you hoe *clears throat*,
Slash some fallen timber with your axe first if you get some big rocks hindering your way, try to build around them; you can’t do anything about them just yet unfortunately. Squash the ground using your hoe as much as you can to get an even level ground. Don’t worry if your first base didn’t turn perfect, this is your first trial, so don’t expect to build an architectural masterpiece.

Build A Foundation:

Now you should outline the way you want to place the footprint of your building. You can use floor brick on the terrain, but the rugged ground may result in dirt all over the place. Therefore, we suggest you erect a small perpendicular joist then build a skeleton for the foundation. Measure about 5tiles x 5 tiles for building a footstep.

Build Floors and Walls:

We have gotten the foundation out of our way, lets now focus our attention on building a few walls and floors. Since our primal material is wood, this means that you cannot build a campfire on a wooden floor. Campfire needs a hole on the ground to be able to set it and place it. You can build multiple fireplaces if you wish to prepare different meals at a time. Don’t forget to build a ladder or two if you want to access your rooftop.

Build a Roof:

Back to the roof, this one is a real pain in the bum. You may face challenges like being unable to build the whole thing from the ground. Consider building a ladder to reach up high.
We forgot to mention that if you want to place campfires indoors, you have to have ventilation. The smoke may end up damaging you in the game, that’s why it’s wise to keep those windows and doors wide open for the smoke to vent out.

Surround Your Base With A Sturdy Wall:

The next step is to forge a wall; this serves as a defensive shield against enemy attacks. As we have mentioned before, your nemesis may strike you from here and there, that’s why you need to protect your base from these attacks. Hence an additional layer of protection is needed to block their charge. Walls require a lot of wood, so get you back up wood resources and establish a secure wall along with some gates that lead you outside your base.

Break Down Your Lean-To and Build Your Furniture Inside:

The final building project in this starter guide is to tear down your previous Lean-To and transfer your belongings inside. Once you finish moving your stuff, it is time to upgrade your equipment and level up your character.

We have come to the end of today’s guide; we shall include other tips and tricks and accompany you throughout your walkthrough.
For now, take a rest and enjoy your night sleep Viking survivor.
